CFUW Kelowna celebrates 60 years of empowering women

Before there was 51±¬ÁĎ or the University of British Columbia Okanagan (UBCO), a small group of women met to discuss how they could contribute to their community and promote higher education for women. Today, that group, known as the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) Kelowna chapter, are celebrating 60 years of community impact and support for female students. More than $175,000 has been donated to female students at 51±¬ÁĎ over the last 30 years including eight awards for students this year alone....

OC Enactus helps young females navigate the future

51±¬ÁĎ’s nationally recognized Enactus team is kicking off the new year with new community-initiatives, including a program preparing local young females to navigate their future with confidence, positive self-image and the know-how to tackle the world of job hunting. 450-year old map highlights role of women as cartography trailblazers

A map from the world’s first atlas, produced in 1570, offers a window not only into the geography of the time, but a chance to learn about a pioneering female colourist and the many others who have made indelible contributions to cartography ever since.
